What Should I Eat While Reading A Book?

Food is an important of our everyday lives. We need it to survive and function.

Sometimes eating food is more enjoyable when it’s done with another thing activity.

One example of this is people that enjoying eating while reading.

I’m actually one of these people.

And having read so many books and experienced a lot in my journey as a reader, I thought it appropriate and necessary to share some advise with regard to the food that you could consider eating while reading.

I hope you do find these food tips useful and enjoyable!

With that said, let’s get into some of the food that you should eat while reading.

Grapes

Fruits like grapes are a great little snack to have while reading. They contain potassium which is a mineral that assists your body to maintain a good balance of fluids in your body.

You can try red grapes fresh or frozen… They’re good for you and plus they won’t leave you with a mess to clean up afterwards.

Beef Jerky

Incorporating a good protein meal in your life is important. Doing it while reading is a life hack.

A good suggestion of food you can eat while reading is beef jerky.

Beef Jerky is a great source of protein, vitamins and minerals which are all a great source of fuel for the book.

It’s a also a healthy alternative to beef or steak because most of its moisture and fat is removed when processing it.

Cookies

Cookies are another source of protein and a good food option while reading.

Also, they are good for a wide age group so it doesn’t matter if you’re old or young. Cookies can work for you.

Even for those diagnosed with diseases like obesity and diabetes.

Cookies are gluten free foods which is another key important thing because some people do not consume gluten foods.

Pretzels

Pretzels are another great option for reading snacks, plus they’re a low fat food that can also help you with your digestion.

Also, they provide sodium which is essentially an electrolyte that is beneficial in small amounts.

Especially after sweaty workouts.

Plus, you won’t have to worry about your book being stained or your reading area being left dirty.

Nuts

Nuts are another delicious food that you can eat while reading a book. Even more so for people on vegan diets.

There are a variety of kinds of nuts and you can choose from this list:

Almonds, Brazil nuts, Cashews, Hazelnuts,Macadamia nuts, Pecans, Pine nuts, Pistachios, Walnuts.

Nuts are good for you because contain a variety of nutrients.

Sunflower seeds

Sunflower seeds are perhaps one of the more extremely healthy options on this list.

Sunflower seeds are a great source of a variety of minerals and vitamins. Some of these minerals are zinc and selenium which can support your immune system and improve your general ability to fight off viruses.

Plus they won’t leave a mess after you’re done eating them.

Crackers

If you’re going to go for crackers, I advise that you go for multi-grain crackers.

One of the reasons why multi-grain crackers are a good snack to eat while reading is that they’re rich in fiber.

Fiber can be pretty much found in crackers made with white flour. The major benefit of consuming fiber is that it helps you reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Multi-grain crackers also have B Vitamins which are a great source of energy and fuel necessary to keep you going the whole day.

Multi-grain crackers also contain Iron.

Iron allows you to produce functional red blood cells which are needed for oxygen transport.

Popcorn

Popcorn is another great snack that you can implement as a snack to eat while reading.

The major downside is that Popcorn is noisy to chew which can be distracting for somebody reading while eating them.

The good part is, popcorn is good for you because it contains antioxidants which can help you improve digestion and blood circulation.

Sliced dry sausage

Dry sausages like salami can also be great food that you can eat while reading.

Just be careful that they don’t stain your books.

Most sausages like salami contain too much protein, sodium and fat… but they’re low in calories and carbs.

Salami itself contains a lot of sodium.

Sodium is good for regulating fluid balance…but when it is consumed in excess it can increase blood pressure.

Therefore be careful with your intake.

Cereal

Cereal is a great start up meal that everyone should have. It can also be eaten while reading a book.

Cereal contains carbohydrates, protein and B Vitamins.  These can provide you with great energy and can help prevent cancer, constipation and colon disorders.

You need good energy when it comes to reading so you might want to have some cereal while you do so.

Cupcakes

Cupcakes offer numerous health benefits and can be delicious food that can be enjoyed while reading.

When you eat cupcakes you basically get calories from eggs which help you function better. Plus the milk in the cupcake allows you to give your body some calcium.

They can make for great snacks and won’t spill everywhere.

Potato Chips

Potato chips are sometimes referred to as the healthiest-unhealthiest snack… People say chips are vegetables but they are really not.

These potassium packing snacks can be a good light snack to enjoy while reading a book.

Baby carrots

Baby carrots are carrots that are harvested before they grow to full maturity.

They’re around 3 to 4 inches long and are pretty much the tiny versions of fully grown carrots.

According to WebMD; “Just one serving of baby carrots has 250% of your daily recommended dose of vitamin A. This antioxidant is vital for eye health and your immune system. It also helps to keep your heart, kidneys, and other organs functioning properly.”

Baby carrots can be a great healthy snack that you can eat as you read.

Chocolate

Dark chocolate would be the best way to go for you in this case.

The reason is simple, dark chocolate is pretty much loaded with nutrients that can contribute positively to your health.

Another fun fact is that dark chocolate can lessen and lower the risk of heart disease.

Bananas

Bananas are both tasty and enjoyable fruits that are a great source of many nutrients.

You should definitely consider them as food to enjoy while reading a book.

Bananas contain manganese which is good for your skin, potassium which is good for your heart health and many other minerals.

In addition, they are also a good source of vitamin c and energy.

Shell pasta

Shell pasta is recommended for reading because it is not as slimy as regular pasta therefore you won’t have stain issues.

Tea or Coffee

A good beverage can also work as something to be had while reading a book.

Just be careful with coffee because it contains caffeine which could affect your sleep.

I don’t recommend having it at night because it will rob you of your sleep and keep you awake for hours.

You’re better off having it in the morning so it provides you a kick start as you begin your day.
